The Emergency Room Orderly plays a crucial role in supporting medical staff by ensuring the smooth operation of the emergency department. This position involves the safe transport of patients to various areas, including operating rooms and diagnostic imaging facilities, using wheelchairs, stretchers, or movable beds. Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to and from treatment areas, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Assist medical staff in preparing patients for procedures and examinations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas and equipment.
  • Stock and replenish medical supplies to ensure availability during emergencies.
  • Assist with the movement and transportation of medical equipment as needed.
  • Provide support to nurses and doctors by reporting patient conditions and concerns.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols at all times.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certification is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an emergency room or similar environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients compassionately.
  • Ability to lift and move patients safely, following proper techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic emergency procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
