Job Brief

The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator plays a critical role in planning, directing, and implementing disaster response and crisis management strategies. This position requires a deep understanding of emergency management protocols, risk assessment, and disaster recovery techniques. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to lead training sessions, and experience drafting comprehensive emergency plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, technological emergencies, and security threats.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans and procedures to address various disaster scenarios.
  • Coordinate disaster response activities and crisis management initiatives in collaboration with local agencies and stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards to ensure effective preparedness measures are in place.
  • Provide training and education on disaster preparedness and response protocols to staff and community members.
  • Organize drills and simulations to test emergency response plans and improve readiness.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and advancements in emergency management.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to emergency plans, training sessions, and incident reports.
  • Act as a liaison with public safety officials, government agencies, and community organizations during a crisis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency management, crisis response, or related roles.
  • Certification in Emergency Management (CEM) or similar credential preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local emergency management regulations and guidelines.
  • Proficient in risk assessment methodologies and incident command systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations.
  • Experience with emergency response software and data management tools is a plus.
