Job Brief

The Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner (EMNP) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in emergency settings. This role involves diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, and chronic illnesses, either independently or as part of a collaborative healthcare team. The EMNP focuses on health promotion, disease prevention, and urgent care, while also proficiently ordering, performing, or interpreting diagnostic tests, including lab work and x-rays. The ability to prescribe medications and demonstrate advanced clinical skills is essential for success in this dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments and provide accurate diagnoses for patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Manage and treat a diverse range of medical emergencies and urgent health issues.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests and imaging studies, to guide treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications, ensuring safe and effective pharmacological management.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic diseases.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stay updated on emergency medicine practices and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on Emergency Medicine or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certification as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP-BC) or equivalent preferred.
  • Proven experience in emergency care settings or urgent care facilities.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interactions.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and documentation standards.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
