Job Brief
The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for the administration and maintenance of electronic library resources, ensuring accessible information for users in various settings such as academic institutions, museums, and corporations. This role requires a strong understanding of library systems, digital resource management, and user education. The ideal candidate will possess experience in acquiring, cataloging, and circulating electronic materials, while providing exceptional user services to enhance access to information efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain electronic resources, including databases, e-books, and digital media.
- Acquire, catalog, and organize electronic materials for easy access and retrieval.
- Provide user instruction on accessing and utilizing electronic resources effectively.
- Support library patrons with research assistance and information retrieval.
- Evaluate and select electronic resources to enhance library collections.
- Develop and maintain user guides and instructional materials for digital resources.
- Collaborate with library staff to implement new technologies and improve service delivery.
- Monitor usage statistics and assess the effectiveness of electronic resources.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Information Science (MIS) from an accredited institution.
- Experience with electronic resource management systems and library databases.
- Familiarity with cataloging and metadata standards, including MARC and Dublin Core.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for user engagement and training.
- Knowledge of digital preservation and data management best practices.
- Proficiency in information technology and library management software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Previous experience in a library setting is preferred.
