Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Drywall Sander to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in applying plasterboard and other wallboard materials to ceilings and interior walls, ensuring a smooth, professional finish. The Drywall Sander is responsible for preparing surfaces for painting and other finishes while adhering to safety standards. Strong attention to detail, proficiency with sanding tools, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Apply plasterboard and wallboard to ceilings and interior walls, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
- Utilize sanding tools and techniques to achieve a smooth finish on drywall surfaces.
- Install acoustical tiles, blocks, and shock-absorbing materials to enhance sound quality in buildings.
- Measure and cut wallboard to specified dimensions, ensuring minimal waste.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Inspect completed work for quality assurance and compliance with project specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with industry safety standards.
- Assist in the training of junior team members on drywall installation and sanding techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Drywall Sander or similar role in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of drywall installation and sanding techniques.
- Familiarity with various sanding tools and equipment, including sanders and hand tools.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification is a plus.
