Job Brief
As a Drug Abuse Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders, including alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and behavioral issues such as gambling and eating disorders. Responsibilities

- Provide individual, family, and group counseling sessions to facilitate recovery and promote healthy coping strategies.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques to address substance use and behavioral issues.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
- Educate clients and families about addiction, recovery processes, and relapse prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community resources to enhance client support.
- Facilitate prevention programs to raise awareness about substance abuse and its impact.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid state licensure or certification as a substance abuse counselor.
- Strong understanding of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
- Proficient in maintaining documentation and managing client records.
- Knowledge of community resources and referral processes for clients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
