Job Brief

As a Doula, you will provide comprehensive support to individuals and families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. This role involves emotional, physical, and informational assistance to help clients navigate their birthing experience. Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of pregnancy and childbirth processes, and a compassionate approach to care. Experience in maternal health, as well as relevant certifications, will enhance your ability to provide exceptional support to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and physical support to clients throughout their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum stages.
  • Educate clients on childbirth options, prenatal care, and newborn care to empower informed decision-making.
  • Assist with creating a personalized birth plan that aligns with the client’s goals and preferences.
  • Offer continuous support during labor, including comfort measures such as breathing techniques and relaxation strategies.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and medical professionals to ensure a smooth birthing experience.
  • Provide postpartum support, including breastfeeding assistance and recovery guidance.
  • Maintain detailed records of client interactions and care plans in accordance with best practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and trends in maternal health to provide evidence-based support.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Doula from a recognized organization (e.g., DONA International, CAPPA).
  • Experience in maternal health, childbirth education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-stress environments.
  • Knowledge of childbirth practices, prenatal nutrition, and postpartum care.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to accommodate clients’ needs.
  • First aid and CPR certification are advantageous.
