Job Brief
As a Ditching Machine Operating Engineer, you will be responsible for operating various types of power construction equipment, including motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, and front-end loaders. Your primary duties will involve excavating, moving, and grading earth, as well as erecting structures and pouring concrete or hard surface pavements. This role requires a strong understanding of construction equipment operations, safety protocols, and the ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience in heavy equipment operation and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on construction sites.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as motor graders, bulldozers, and scrapers to execute excavation and grading tasks.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to understand project specifications and deadlines.
- Utilize safety gear and follow all safety protocols to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Grade and level earth for construction purposes, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
- Assist in the erection of structures and the pouring of concrete or other hard surfaces.
- Document daily activities and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Train and mentor junior operators in safe and effective equipment operation techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Ditching Machine Operating Engineer or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations, maintenance, and safety practices.
- Ability to operate various types of construction machinery, including front-end loaders, tractors, and shovels.
- Valid driver’s license and certification for operating heavy machinery preferred.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual tasks and operate machinery for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with project teams.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
