Job Brief
The Development Geologist plays a critical role in studying the Earth’s composition, structure, and physical characteristics to support exploration and development projects. This position involves utilizing geological, physics, and mathematics expertise to identify and analyze natural resources such as oil, gas, minerals, and underground water. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in geological sciences and demonstrate proficiency in environmental assessments, seismic analysis, and data interpretation to address land reclamation and waste disposal challenges.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geological surveys and assessments to evaluate mineral and resource deposits.
- Analyze geological data, including rock samples and seismic data, to support resource exploration.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop exploration strategies and project plans.
- Utilize geological models and simulations to predict resource availability and environmental impact.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Monitor and assess environmental impacts related to resource extraction and land reclamation.
- Stay updated on advancements in geological research and exploration technologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and environmental standards in all activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Proven experience in geological exploration, resource assessment, or environmental consulting.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in geological software and data interpretation tools.
- Familiarity with geological mapping techniques and seismic interpretation.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder interactions.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Professional certifications, such as Geologist-in-Training (GIT) or Registered Professional Geologist (RPG), are a plus.
