Job Brief

As a Detention Deputy, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within penal or rehabilitative institutions. Responsibilities

  • Enforce facility rules and regulations while providing support and guidance to inmates.
  • Respond to emergencies and disturbances efficiently, employing de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of inmate activities, incidents, and daily operations.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and correctional staff to ensure effective communication and safety.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay updated on best practices in detention and corrections.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid law enforcement certification or completion of a detention officer training program.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in law enforcement, corrections, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with inmates and staff.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure environments and handle stressful situations effectively.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to perform required duties, including restraining inmates when necessary.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
