Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Dairy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul various farm machinery and vehicles, including tractors, harvesters, dairy equipment, and irrigation systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of mechanical systems and demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining dairy operations. A strong background in agricultural mechanics and relevant certifications is essential for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical issues in dairy equipment and agricultural machinery using industry-standard diagnostic tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems to ensure operational efficiency.
- Overhaul components of dairy equipment, including pumps, motors, and refrigeration systems.
- Adjust and calibrate machinery settings to meet production requirements and improve productivity.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed on all equipment.
- Collaborate with farm management to identify equipment needs and recommend upgrades or replacements.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all maintenance activities.
- Train and mentor junior mechanics and farm workers on proper equipment handling and maintenance procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in agricultural mechanics or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanic, specifically in dairy and agricultural equipment maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in farming machinery.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE certification) are a plus.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and hand tools for machinery repair.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate farm machinery safely.
