Job Brief

The Cornea and External Disease Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating disorders and diseases affecting the cornea and external structures of the eye. This role involves performing surgical procedures, offering comprehensive vision services, and prescribing corrective lenses to enhance patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of ocular conditions, surgical techniques, and the latest advancements in ophthalmology, alongside a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose corneal and external ocular diseases through comprehensive eye examinations and diagnostic tests.
  • Perform surgical interventions such as corneal transplants, cataract surgery, and other procedures to treat eye conditions.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.
  • Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including glasses and contact lenses, to improve vision.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  • Stay current with advancements in ophthalmic technologies and surgical techniques.
  • Educate patients and their families about eye health, treatment options, and preventive care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with completion of a residency in ophthalmology.
  • Board certification in ophthalmology with a subspecialty in cornea and external disease.
  • State licensure to practice medicine and perform eye surgery.
  • Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Proven experience in performing ocular surgeries and managing complex cases.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development in the field of ophthalmology.
