As a Construction Site Crossing Guard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of pedestrians and vehicles at construction sites and nearby roadways. Your primary responsibilities will include directing traffic, managing pedestrian crossings, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a keen awareness of traffic laws, and the ability to maintain a calm demeanor in high-pressure situations. Experience in traffic management or public safety is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control vehicular and pedestrian traffic at construction sites to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Monitor traffic flow and adjust signals to minimize congestion and hazards.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers and pedestrians to facilitate safe crossings.
  • Enforce safety regulations and procedures in compliance with local and state traffic laws.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents to relevant authorities immediately.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining traffic control devices and signage.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by helping pedestrians navigate safely around construction zones.
  • Collaborate with other construction site personnel to ensure safety protocols are followed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in traffic management is a plus.
  • Previous experience in traffic control, construction site management, or public safety preferred.
  • Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in stressful situations.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and manage pedestrian traffic effectively.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is desirable.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, if required.
