Job Brief
The Conservation Enforcement Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding wildlife and natural resources by enforcing fish and game laws. Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect violations of fish and game laws.
- Conduct investigations related to wildlife damage to crops or property.
- Compile, analyze, and report biological data relevant to wildlife populations.
- Educate the public about conservation laws and practices to promote compliance.
- Assist in the apprehension of individuals violating wildlife regulations.
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies on wildlife protection initiatives.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for legal proceedings and policy-making.
- Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about conservation efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, environmental science, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Certification in law enforcement or completion of a police academy program is preferred.
- Proven ability to conduct investigations and gather evidence.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal wildlife laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for public engagement.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
- Experience with wildlife management practices and data collection methods.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
