Job Brief

The College Chaplain serves as a spiritual leader within the college community, responsible for conducting religious worship and providing spiritual guidance to students, faculty, and staff. This role requires a deep understanding of various religious traditions and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that supports diverse faith practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a compassionate demeanor, and experience in pastoral care, enabling them to address the spiritual and moral needs of the college community effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular worship services, prayer meetings, and spiritual retreats to promote community engagement and spiritual growth.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students and staff, addressing spiritual, emotional, and moral concerns.
  • Collaborate with campus organizations and groups to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding.
  • Offer guidance on ethical issues and support for personal development aligned with spiritual beliefs.
  • Develop and implement programs that foster spiritual well-being and community service initiatives.
  • Be available for crisis intervention and support during emergencies or challenging situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all counseling and guidance activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Ordination or equivalent certification in a recognized religious denomination preferred.
  • Proven experience in pastoral care, counseling, or spiritual leadership, preferably within a college setting.
  • Strong understanding of diverse religious beliefs and practices, with a commitment to inclusivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse community.
  • Proficient in conflict resolution and crisis management techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute programs for spiritual enrichment and community service.
