Job Brief
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Clinical Microbiologist to investigate and analyze microscopic organisms, including bacteria, fungi, and algae. Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological tests to identify and characterize microorganisms in clinical samples.
- Analyze data and interpret results to provide insights into microbial behavior and resistance patterns.
- Develop and implement laboratory protocols for the effective handling and analysis of microbial specimens.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to diagnose infectious diseases and recommend appropriate treatments.
- Stay current with advancements in microbiology and incorporate new methodologies into laboratory practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality control standards in the laboratory environment.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings for medical staff and stakeholders.
- Supervise and mentor junior laboratory staff and assist in their professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of microbial physiology, pathology, and laboratory techniques.
- Familiarity with diagnostic microbiology methods, including culture techniques and molecular diagnostics.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data accurately.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
- Certification from a relevant professional body (e.g., ASCP, AMT) is preferred.
