Job Brief
The Clinical Medical Assistant plays a vital role in healthcare settings by performing both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a physician. This position requires a combination of excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include managing patient records, scheduling appointments, taking vital signs, and assisting in patient examinations. Responsibilities
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
- Maintain and update accurate medical records and patient files.
- Perform initial patient assessments by taking and recording vital signs and medical histories.
- Prepare patients for examination, explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Assist physicians during examinations and medical procedures.
- Draw blood and perform basic laboratory tests as required.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician.
- Handle billing and coding information for insurance purposes, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Provide patient education on health maintenance and disease prevention.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or similar credential is a plus.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, electronic health records (EHR), and billing software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and laboratory tests.
- Experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not required.
- Current CPR certification is preferred.
