Job Brief

The City Surveyor plays a crucial role in managing and conducting land surveys to determine property boundaries and provide accurate data regarding land features. Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings for engineering and construction projects.
  • Analyze survey data to support land evaluation and urban planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, and city planners to ensure compliance with zoning regulations.
  • Perform geodetic surveys to assess the earth’s surface and monitor land stability.
  • Maintain and update survey records and documentation in compliance with legal standards.
  • Provide expert testimony in court cases related to property disputes and land use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a surveyor, preferably in urban or municipal settings.
  • Proficiency in surveying software and GIS applications.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal land use regulations and zoning laws.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
