Job Brief
The Chiller Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining cooling and freezing equipment, including refrigerators, batch freezers, and freezing tunnels. This role requires a keen understanding of temperature control processes to effectively cool or freeze various products, including food items, blood plasma, and chemicals. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in a similar role, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to monitor and adjust equipment performance to ensure product integrity.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor cooling and freezing units to maintain optimal temperature settings.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and inefficiencies in real-time.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on refrigeration and freezing equipment.
- Document operational data, including temperature logs and equipment performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations related to food and chemical processing.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize processes for efficiency and product quality.
- Train new staff on equipment operation and safety protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in refrigeration or HVAC preferred.
- Proven experience as a Chiller Operator or in a related role within the food processing or chemical industries.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for refrigeration systems.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in food and chemical handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow strict operational procedures.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting purposes.
