Job Brief

As a Child and Family Services Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering social services and support to enhance the social and psychological well-being of children and their families. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing family needs, implementing intervention strategies, and coordinating resources to promote positive family dynamics and academic success for children. This position requires strong communication skills, empathy, and experience in social work or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs and strengths of children and families.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans to address family issues and improve social functioning.
  • Provide guidance and support to parents, assisting with parenting skills and crisis intervention.
  • Facilitate access to community resources, including mental health services, educational support, and financial assistance.
  • Support the placement of children in foster care or adoption services when necessary.
  • Collaborate with schools to address issues such as truancy, misbehavior, and teenage pregnancy.
  • Advise and train teachers on best practices for supporting at-risk students.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of case files and progress reports in compliance with legal and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Valid social work license or certification as required by state regulations.
  • Proven experience in child welfare, family services, or social services.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with families and stakeholders.
  • Ability to assess complex situations and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support systems for families and children.
  • Experience working in schools or educational settings is a plus.
