Job Brief

The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for designing and optimizing chemical manufacturing processes and equipment to produce a variety of chemical products, including gasoline, synthetic rubber, plastics, detergents, cement, and pulp. This role requires a solid understanding of chemistry, physics, and engineering principles, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency and safety. Candidates should possess a relevant degree and experience in process design and optimization within the chemical industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop chemical processes and equipment to improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Conduct experiments and simulations to test and validate process designs.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations during process development.
  • Analyze data and utilize statistical methods to optimize processes and reduce costs.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including process flow diagrams and equipment specifications.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols in chemical manufacturing environments.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in chemical process design and optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis software.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical engineering principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with industry software tools such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or MATLAB.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards in the chemical industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
