Job Brief

As a Chain Saw Mechanic, you will diagnose, adjust, repair, and overhaul small engines used in chain saws and related outdoor power equipment. Ideal candidates will possess formal training or relevant work experience in small engine repair, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical issues in chain saws and small engines, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on various outdoor power equipment.
  • Adjust and calibrate engines to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Replace or repair defective parts, including carburetors, ignition systems, and fuel systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics and apprentices as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in small engine repair.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in small engine repair preferred.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in chain saws or similar equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of engine systems, including two-stroke and four-stroke engines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and practices in outdoor equipment maintenance.
  • Certification in small engine repair or related field is a plus.
