Job Brief
As a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in the surgical team, assisting in various procedures under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses. Your primary responsibilities include preparing the operating room, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring a sterile environment. Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures.
- Assist in the setup of the operating room, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants as needed.
- Hold retractors and cut sutures as directed by the surgical team.
- Count sponges, needles, instruments, and supplies to maintain accurate inventory.
- Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and adjust lights as necessary.
- Follow strict protocols for infection control and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in a surgical environment, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile techniques.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.
