Job Brief
As a Certified Ski Patroller, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of ski resort guests. This position involves monitoring ski slopes, assessing trail conditions, providing emergency medical assistance, and coordinating rescue operations. Ideal candidates will possess strong communication skills, emergency response expertise, and a passion for winter sports. Experience in outdoor safety and first aid certification is essential.
Responsibilities
- Monitor ski slopes and recreational areas to ensure participant safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide immediate emergency medical assistance to injured skiers and snowboarders.
- Conduct regular inspections of trails and facilities, reporting hazards and maintenance needs.
- Coordinate rescue operations and manage evacuation procedures during emergencies.
- Educate guests on safety regulations and mountain awareness to promote responsible skiing.
- Collaborate with ski resort staff, local emergency services, and other patrollers to enhance safety measures.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, medical treatments, and operational activities.
- Participate in ongoing training and drills to keep skills current and improve emergency response techniques.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Ski Patroller from a recognized organization (e.g., NSP, PSIA).
- Current CPR and first aid certifications, with advanced medical training preferred.
- Experience in outdoor emergency response and snow sports safety.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform rescue operations in challenging conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and team members.
- Knowledge of weather conditions, ski equipment, and trail management practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, during the ski season.
