Job Brief
The Certified Orthotic Fitter is responsible for designing, measuring, fitting, and adapting orthopedic braces, appliances, and prostheses for patients with disabling conditions. Responsibilities
- Design and fabricate custom orthopedic devices tailored to individual patient needs.
- Measure and assess patients to ensure proper fit and comfort of orthotic and prosthetic appliances.
- Fit and adjust orthopedic braces and devices, providing ongoing support to patients.
- Educate patients and their families on the use and care of orthotic devices.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of fittings and adjustments.
- Stay updated on advancements in orthotic technology and materials.
- Adhere to safety and compliance standards in all aspects of orthotic fitting.
Requirements
- Certification as a Certified Orthotic Fitter (COF) from an accredited organization.
- Proven experience in orthotic fitting and patient assessment.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in using fitting tools and technology for orthotic devices.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of current healthcare regulations and best practices in orthotics.
