Job Brief
As a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), you will be responsible for diagnosing and coordinating all aspects of the birthing process, providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers either independently or as part of a collaborative healthcare team. In addition to prenatal and delivery care, you may also offer well-woman gynecological care services. This role requires specialized graduate nursing education and a commitment to promoting maternal and neonatal health through evidence-based practices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive prenatal assessments and monitor maternal and fetal health throughout pregnancy.
- Manage labor and delivery, providing support and education to patients and families during the birthing process.
- Perform gynecological exams, screenings, and preventative care for women of all ages.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and preferences.
- Provide postpartum care and support, including education on newborn care and breastfeeding.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Stay current with advancements in midwifery and maternal healthcare practices through continuous education and training.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nurse Midwifery from an accredited program.
- Current certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) from a recognized body.
- Active nursing license in the state of practice.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills related to obstetrics and gynecology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster patient relationships.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining patient autonomy.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in midwifery and maternal care.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
