Job Brief
Cement Masons are skilled tradespeople responsible for the smooth and precise finishing of poured concrete surfaces, including floors, sidewalks, roads, and curbs. This role requires a strong understanding of concrete mixing, setting forms, and finishing techniques using both hand and power tools. Ideal candidates will possess experience in concrete installation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively on construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and set forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters to ensure accurate dimensions and alignment.
- Pour, spread, and finish concrete using hand tools and power tools to achieve smooth surfaces.
- Patch voids and imperfections in concrete surfaces to ensure durability and aesthetics.
- Utilize saws to cut expansion joints and control joints in cured concrete.
- Mix concrete and mortar according to specifications and project requirements.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals, including foremen, laborers, and subcontractors.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to industry safety standards and regulations.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and make necessary adjustments as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in masonry or construction preferred.
- Proven experience as a Cement Mason or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in the construction industry.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
