Job Brief

As a Cattle Driver, you will play a vital role in the management and care of livestock, primarily focusing on cattle and other farm animals. Your primary responsibilities will include herding, feeding, and monitoring the health and well-being of animals on a farm, ranch, or open range. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on experience in animal husbandry, strong communication skills, and a passion for working outdoors. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Herd and manage cattle and other livestock in a safe and humane manner.
  • Feed and water animals, ensuring proper nutrition and health.
  • Monitor animal behavior and health, identifying signs of disease or injury.
  • Assist in breeding and birthing processes, providing necessary support.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and insecticides as required.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding animal health, breeding, and feeding schedules.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of animal housing areas.
  • Load and transport animals as needed for sales, veterinary care, or relocation.
  • Shear sheep and collect eggs, when applicable, for product production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in animal husbandry preferred.
  • Knowledge of livestock management practices and animal welfare standards.
  • Ability to operate farm equipment and handle livestock safely.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent observational skills to detect changes in animal health.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and, if applicable, certification for operating specific machinery.
  • Basic understanding of veterinary care and experience administering medications.
