The Catalog Librarian plays a pivotal role in the administration and maintenance of library collections and informational resources. Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain library collections for public and private access.
- Acquire, catalog, and classify a variety of informational materials.
- Circulate library materials and manage borrowing procedures.
- Provide user services, including assisting patrons in locating information.
- Organize and maintain library databases and electronic resources.
- Conduct instructional sessions on library resources and information access.
- Set up and operate library media equipment for presentations and events.
- Collaborate with other library staff to enhance library services and programs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or a related field.
- Experience with cataloging standards such as AACR2, RDA, and MARC.
- Proficiency in library management systems and digital cataloging tools.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of information retrieval, indexing, and archiving techniques.
- Familiarity with current trends in library technology and digital resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
