Job Brief

As a Cargo Router, you will be responsible for expediting and routing the movement of incoming and outgoing cargo and freight shipments across various transportation terminals, including airlines, trains, and trucking docks. Your role will involve taking customer orders, arranging pickups, and preparing essential documentation such as bills of lading to determine shipping charges and tariffs. The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics and supply chain management, possess strong organizational skills, and demonstrate proficiency in cargo routing and freight operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and expedite the movement of cargo and freight shipments through airline, train, and trucking terminals.
  • Receive and process customer orders for freight and cargo pickups.
  • Arrange for timely delivery of goods to loading platforms and shipment docks.
  • Prepare and review bills of lading to accurately determine shipping charges and tariffs.
  • Monitor shipment progress and address any delays or issues that arise during transit.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipments and cargo movements.
  • Collaborate with logistics teams to optimize shipping routes and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements related to cargo handling and transportation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in cargo routing, freight forwarding, or logistics management.
  • Strong understanding of shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs forms.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tracking systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
