Responsibilities

  • Perform complex cardiovascular surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair, and heart transplants.
  • Diagnose cardiovascular conditions through comprehensive evaluations, including imaging studies and diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with heart and vascular diseases.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal surgical outcomes.
  • Conduct preoperative assessments and postoperative follow-ups to monitor patient recovery and manage complications.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stay current with advancements in cardiovascular surgery techniques and technologies through continuous education and training.
  • Participate in surgical case reviews and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the surgical department.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in general surgery followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery.
  • Board certification in cardiovascular surgery is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, surgical techniques, and postoperative care.
  • Proven experience in performing a wide range of cardiovascular surgical procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
