Job Brief
As a Campus Police Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining safety and security within the educational institution. Your primary responsibilities will include enforcing local, state, and federal laws while protecting life and property. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a keen sense of observation, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies. Previous experience in law enforcement or security, along with relevant certifications, is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Enforce campus regulations, local ordinances, and state laws to ensure a safe environment.
- Direct traffic and manage parking regulations to ensure smooth vehicular and pedestrian flow.
- Investigate accidents, gather evidence, and prepare detailed reports on incidents.
- Apprehend and arrest suspects as necessary, following proper legal procedures.
- Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and security threats.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies and emergency responders as needed.
- Engage with the campus community to promote safety awareness and crime prevention strategies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
- Completion of police academy training and possession of a valid law enforcement certification.
- Strong physical fitness and the ability to handle high-stress situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in using law enforcement technology and reporting software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required.
- Knowledge of campus security issues and law enforcement procedures.
