Job Brief
The Bus Monitor plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during transportation to and from school. This position involves maintaining order on the school bus, assisting students during boarding and exiting, and addressing any behavioral issues. Responsibilities
- Monitor student behavior on the bus to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely.
- Communicate any behavioral issues or concerns to school staff and parents.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure safety standards are met.
- Prepare for and assist in emergency evacuations, ensuring student safety.
- Provide support to students with special needs and ensure their safe transportation.
- Collaborate with bus drivers and school officials to promote a positive bus experience.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and report them to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in child development or education is a plus.
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage emergency situations.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in student transportation.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Background check clearance is required.
- Physical ability to assist students as needed, including lifting and supporting them if necessary.
