Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Bookie to facilitate wagering activities for our patrons on various races and sporting events. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing bets, operating gaming equipment such as keno and bingo, and providing excellent customer service. You will be responsible for verifying and recording wagers, processing winning tickets, and ensuring a smooth betting experience. Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of gaming regulations are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Post and update information on races and sporting events for patrons to place wagers.
- Assist in the operation of gaming activities including keno and bingo.
- Operate random number-generating equipment and announce winning numbers.
- Receive, verify, and accurately record patrons’ wagers in a timely manner.
- Scan and process winning tickets presented by patrons, ensuring prompt payout of winnings.
- Maintain a clean and organized betting area, addressing any customer inquiries and concerns.
- Monitor betting activity and enforce gaming regulations to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in gaming is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Bookie or in a similar gaming or betting role.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail for accurate wager processing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patrons effectively.
- Familiarity with gaming regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency in using gaming software and point-of-sale systems.
