Job Brief
The Boiler Setter is responsible for the construction, assembly, maintenance, and repair of stationary steam boilers and associated boiler house auxiliaries. This role requires a solid understanding of blueprints and the ability to align structures and plate sections for assembly. A successful Boiler Setter will demonstrate proficiency in using hand and power tools, coupled with strong problem-solving skills to ensure safe and efficient boiler operations. Ideal candidates will have experience in boiler testing and maintenance, as well as a commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Construct and assemble stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries according to specifications.
- Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats while following detailed blueprints.
- Utilize hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, and turnbuckles effectively for assembly tasks.
- Assist in testing assembled boiler vessels to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Oversee the cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces to maintain operational efficiency.
- Inspect and repair boiler fittings, including safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, and water columns.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve boiler-related issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Boiler Setter or in a similar mechanical role.
- Strong knowledge of boiler assembly, maintenance, and repair processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in boiler operations.
- Relevant certifications in boiler operation or maintenance preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
