Job Brief

As a Bean Roaster, you will expertly operate and manage roasting equipment to produce high-quality roasted coffee beans. This role requires a keen understanding of roasting techniques, flavor profiling, and equipment operation. Successful candidates will possess hands-on experience with food roasting technologies, a passion for coffee, and strong attention to detail to ensure product consistency and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain roasting equipment, including roasters and drying equipment, to produce roasted coffee beans.
  • Monitor and adjust roasting profiles to achieve desired flavor, aroma, and color characteristics.
  • Conduct quality checks for consistency and identify defects in roasted products.
  • Implement and adhere to safety and sanitation protocols throughout the roasting process.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and refine roasting techniques and product offerings.
  • Maintain accurate records of roasting batches, including temperatures, times, and flavor notes.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in roasting technology and techniques.
  • Assist in inventory management and ordering of raw coffee beans and supplies.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a bean roaster or in a similar role within the food production industry.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee bean varieties, roasting methods, and flavor profiling.
  • Familiarity with roasting equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to product quality and safety.
  • Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Certification in food safety or relevant training preferred.
