Job Brief
The Automotive Refinish Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to various spraying and rolling machines to apply coatings and paints to a diverse range of products, including vehicles, metals, plastics, and more. This role requires a solid understanding of automotive painting processes, surface preparation techniques, and safety practices. Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primer as necessary.
- Set up and operate spraying and rolling machines for the application of various coatings.
- Mix paint and coatings according to specifications and industry standards.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance and make necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
- Maintain equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations for handling hazardous materials.
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and client specifications.
- Stay updated on new techniques, materials, and technologies in automotive refinishing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in automotive refinishing is a plus.
- Proven experience as an Automotive Refinish Technician or similar role in an auto body repair facility.
- Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems, application techniques, and surface preparation.
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to painting and coating processes.
- Ability to work with various materials including lacquer, enamel, and rust-proofing materials.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong aesthetic sense for color matching.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Certifications in automotive painting and refinishing are preferred.
