Job Brief
As an Aquaculture Worker, you will play a vital role in the management and care of aquatic and terrestrial animals within a farming, ranching, or open range environment. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure the health and productivity of various species, including finfish, shellfish, poultry, and livestock. Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and care for aquatic and terrestrial animals, ensuring optimal health and growth.
- Monitor and maintain water quality and environmental conditions for aquaculture species.
- Assist in breeding, birthing, and rearing of young animals.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and insecticides as needed to prevent disease.
- Inspect animals for signs of illness or injury and take appropriate action.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, feeding schedules, and production metrics.
- Clean and maintain animal housing areas, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
- Perform additional tasks such as shearing, egg collection, and animal transportation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in animal husbandry or aquaculture preferred.
- Prior experience working with aquatic and terrestrial animals in a farming or ranching setting.
- Strong observational skills to detect health issues and environmental changes.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Basic knowledge of animal nutrition, health care, and welfare practices.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and reporting health issues.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
