Job Brief
As an Applications Tester, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and functionality of our software applications. You will develop and execute comprehensive software tests to identify issues and their root causes, while also preparing for system modifications and implementations. Your expertise in documenting software defects using bug tracking systems and reporting them to developers will be essential. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and experience in software testing methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans and test cases for software applications to ensure quality and performance.
- Identify, document, and report software defects and issues using a bug tracking system.
- Test system modifications and enhancements to prepare for implementation.
- Create and maintain a database of known defects and ensure effective communication with the development team.
- Participate in software design reviews to provide input on functional requirements and operational characteristics.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Perform regression testing to confirm that resolved defects do not reoccur.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in software testing and quality assurance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an Applications Tester, Software Tester, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla).
- Familiarity with automated testing tools is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
