Job Brief

As an Animal Warden, you will play a critical role in ensuring the welfare of animals within the community. This position involves investigating cases of animal mistreatment, managing abandoned or dangerous animals, and enforcing local animal control laws. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, animal handling experience, and a passion for animal welfare. Previous experience in animal control or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations of animal cruelty and mistreatment cases.
  • Rescue and transport abandoned, injured, or dangerous animals to appropriate facilities.
  • Enforce animal control ordinances and regulations within the community.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and animal shelters to ensure animal safety.
  • Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare issues.
  • Maintain detailed records of investigations, rescues, and community outreach efforts.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls regarding animal incidents.
  • Participate in community events to promote animal welfare initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in veterinary sciences or animal behavior is a plus.
  • Proven experience in animal handling, rescue, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal animal protection laws.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with the public.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Certification in animal first aid and CPR is advantageous.
  • Physical ability to handle and restrain animals safely.
