Job Brief

As an Animal Caregiver, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of various animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and exotic species. Your primary duties will include feeding, grooming, exercising, and maintaining clean living environments to promote the health and happiness of animals under your supervision. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal care settings, a strong passion for animal welfare, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to established schedules.
  • Groom, bathe, and exercise animals to ensure their physical well-being.
  • Administer medications and perform basic health checks as needed.
  • Maintain clean and hygienic living spaces by cleaning cages, pens, or tanks.
  • Monitor the behavior and health of animals, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
  • Record feedings, treatments, and the status of animals received or discharged.
  • Provide companionship and socialization to animals to enhance emotional well-being.
  • Assist in the rehabilitation of injured or abandoned animals, as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in animal science or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in animal care, veterinary assistance, or a related role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of animal behavior and needs, with the ability to handle various species.
  • Basic knowledge of animal health and nutrition.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical stamina to lift and handle animals safely.
  • CPR/First Aid certification for animals is an advantage.
