Job Brief
As an Animal Care Technician, you will play a vital role in promoting the health and well-being of various animals, including dogs, cats, birds, and zoo animals. Your primary responsibilities will include feeding, grooming, exercising, and providing medical care, ensuring that each animal receives the attention they need in a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and groom animals to maintain their health and hygiene.
- Exercise and provide enrichment activities to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain animal enclosures, including cages, pens, and tanks.
- Keep accurate records of feedings, treatments, and animal intake/discharge.
- Assist with animal intake procedures, including health assessments and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations within the facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in animal care preferred.
- Knowledge of animal behavior and handling techniques.
- Experience with grooming and bathing various types of animals.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and restraining animals.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and the public.
- Basic understanding of animal nutrition and health care.
- Certification in animal care or related fields is a plus.
