Job Brief
As an Animal Care Giver, you will be responsible for the daily care and well-being of various animals, including dogs, cats, racehorses, birds, and zoo animals. Your primary duties will include feeding, grooming, exercising, and bathing, ensuring that all animals receive the highest standard of care. Ideal candidates will possess a passion for animal welfare, strong attention to detail, and experience working in environments such as kennels, animal shelters, or aquariums. Responsibilities
- Feed and water animals according to established schedules and dietary requirements.
- Groom and bathe animals to maintain hygiene and appearance.
- Exercise and socialize animals to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
- Clean, disinfect, and repair cages, pens, or tanks to ensure a safe environment.
- Maintain accurate records of feedings, treatments, and animals admitted or discharged.
- Assist with administering medications and following treatment plans as directed.
- Provide enrichment activities to stimulate animals mentally and physically.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in animal care or related fields is a plus.
- Previous experience in animal care or working in a veterinary setting preferred.
- Knowledge of animal behavior and basic animal care principles.
- Ability to lift and handle animals of various sizes safely.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic record-keeping skills to document animal care activities accurately.
- Certifications in pet first aid or animal CPR are advantageous.
