Job Brief
As an Airport Security Screener, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the airport environment. This position involves conducting thorough screenings of passengers, baggage, and cargo to ensure compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations. Successful candidates will possess strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate basic security equipment, such as x-ray machines and handheld wands. Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct passenger and baggage screenings to detect prohibited items and ensure compliance with TSA regulations.
- Operate security equipment including x-ray machines and metal detectors efficiently and accurately.
- Perform pat-downs and hand searches when necessary, maintaining professionalism and sensitivity.
- Monitor security checkpoints and respond promptly to any security alarms or alerts.
- Provide clear and accurate communication to passengers regarding security procedures and guidelines.
- Document screening activities and report any suspicious behavior to the appropriate authorities.
- Participate in ongoing training and remain updated on security protocols and regulations.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport staff to enhance security measures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional security training or certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain vigilant in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Proficient in using security screening equipment and technology.
- Must pass background checks and adhere to TSA guidelines and protocols.
