Job Brief
The Adult ESL Teacher Aide supports the educational goals of adult learners in English as a Second Language (ESL) programs. This role involves assisting the lead teacher in delivering engaging lessons, providing individualized support to students, and facilitating a conducive learning environment. Responsibilities
- Assist the lead ESL teacher in preparing instructional materials and lesson plans.
- Facilitate small group discussions and one-on-one tutoring sessions to enhance student understanding.
- Support students in developing their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in English.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher regarding individual student needs.
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation.
- Assist in assessing student performance through observations and informal assessments.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring ESL students is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with adult learners.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools is a plus.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed in their language learning journey.
- Certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or equivalent is advantageous.
