Job Brief
As an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), you will play a vital role in diagnosing and treating patients with acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team. Your responsibilities will include health promotion, disease prevention, and the ordering, performing, or interpreting of diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays. With specialized graduate education and clinical expertise, you will also prescribe medications to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in diverse patient populations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work and imaging studies.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment modalities as per clinical guidelines.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-management strategies.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes.
- Document patient encounters accurately in accordance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Stay current on best practices and emerging trends in acute care nursing.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing with a focus on Acute Care Nurse Practitioner programs.
- Current certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by a recognized certifying body.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in acute care settings.
- Proficiency in interpreting diagnostic tests and developing treatment plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
- Experience in a hospital or critical care environment is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
