Job Brief
The Geological Sample Tester plays a crucial role in supporting scientists and engineers by utilizing electronic, sonic, and nuclear measuring instruments to gather vital data on geological resources such as metallic ores, minerals, gas, coal, and petroleum. A successful candidate will excel in analyzing mud samples, drill cuttings, and charting pressure and temperature characteristics of wells or boreholes, ultimately contributing to resource assessment and extraction efforts.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of electronic, sonic, and nuclear measuring instruments for geological analysis.
- Analyze geological samples, including mud and drill cuttings, to determine resource composition.
- Chart and document pressure, temperature, and other key parameters of wells and boreholes.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to interpret data and generate reports on geological findings.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
- Conduct field sampling and testing as required to support exploration and production activities.
- Utilize software for data analysis and visualization to enhance reporting accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience in laboratory testing and geological sample analysis.
