Job Brief

The DTP Operator is responsible for formatting typescript and graphic elements using advanced computer software to produce high-quality, publication-ready materials. This position requires expertise in desktop publishing tools, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate with designers and content creators. The ideal candidate will have a background in graphic design or a related field and possess strong technical skills in digital layout and print production.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize desktop publishing software to create visually appealing layouts for print and digital publications.
  • Format and edit typescript, ensuring accuracy and consistency in text and graphic elements.
  • Collaborate with graphic designers and content teams to deliver high-quality materials that meet project specifications.
  • Proofread and review documents for errors in text, images, and layout before final production.
  • Maintain files and archives of completed projects and manage revisions as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in desktop publishing and graphic design.
  • Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and project deadlines throughout the production process.
  • Assist in troubleshooting software issues and provide technical support for desktop publishing tasks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a DTP Operator or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of published work.
  • Proficiency in desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout design principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with print production processes and file preparation for printing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus for digital publication formats.
  • A degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field is preferred.
