Is this a scam? You tell me! Here is the story:
I was contacted by a person named Jim on LinkedIn about a job opportunity from Halliburton. After the interview on Microsoft Team with 2 people who claimed to be the hiring managers from Halliburton, I was informed that the interview went really well, and I was given the offer. I had 24 hrs to accept the offer according to Jim and his boss Nayeem.
Here are the red flags:
1: Jim sent me a message on LinkedIn without even checking on my profile.
2: The interview was extremely odd as the interviewers refused to show their face on webcam.
3: One of the interviewers showed me the platform/software they used to monitor wells, I know I still have a lot to learn, but I don’t recall you can use PowerPoint to perform Artificial Lift and to monitor wells.
4: When I asked them for the offer letter that Halliburton sent out, they claimed they had not received one yet, only the email, and they refused to show me the email. (later on Nayeem sent me a screenshot!)
5: When I asked them for the contract, they hesitantly sent them to me, and good lord the Halliburton’s contract looked like a 6th grade project on Word! No company logo, or letterhead. Even the signature looked fake and without the name of the person who signed it.
6: All the text messages that Nayeem sent out were extremely unprofessional.
7: the Google review from 3 years ago.
A piece of advice, I do appreciate the effort you guys put in to get my bank account info, but next time try harder, try to fake it all the way. Most importantly, patience and consistency are the keys.
