Tried to enter the TSA pre-check lane at Miami airport when a young man approached my wife and I and pointed to the Clear lane. He talked fast and pulled us over to a kiosk. He said we could try Clear, it was better than TSA pre-check etc. He pushed all the buttons and asked me my phone number, e mail affress etc. Then he told me to swipe my credit card for verification purposes and I did. I was all set and then he askled my wife the same questions. Hers would not take after many tries and many minutes as I watched people come ang go thru the TSA line as we waited. I was then processed thru Clear and my wife had to go back around to the TSA line. He told me he didn’t know why she was being added but just for me to add her to my account when I got home. When I got home and added my wife it was very easy to do so. Then, I got my statement on 3/25 and saw I was charged $199 from Clearme.com and changed another $117.37 for my wife. WHAT? I thought we were “trying” the service. We only fly once a year and had just renewed our TSA pre-check before this trip. We told all this to the young man in Miami but he must have ahd a quota to fill. I felt like I was baited into signing up. So I go on line today and use the bot. When I asked to speak with someone via phone I was put on hold. Frustration kicked in so I called the number on the website. Typical prompts to press 1 then another then another and finally I was informed they were busy and they could call me back. I opted for that option. I tried the webpage again and the chat bot told me I could get a partial refund and keep the service. I said no and eventually got a full refund. This service seems sneaky in their approach. The straw that broke the camels back was that the webpage tells me this is an annual fee. Why would a once a year or once every two year flyer need to pay annually for this service. Releived that I was able to cancel and get a refund. High pressure sales men preying on senior citizens in major airports jsut seem VERY unethical.

This was the line to clear at the Las Vegas airport November 11th 2024. The line for pre TSA was shorter! It actually took us longer to use clear then it was to go through TSA pre-check. About 20-25 minutes! Definitely not worth the cost we paid 😕

After the Real ID has implemented since May 2025, global entry card can’t be added to Clear account to access the Clear & TSA Pre.
